Location: Secretary of State, 1500 11th Street, Multi-purpose Room (1st Floor)– Sacramento, California

Expanding upon CALBO’s first five years of success, the Sixth Annual Leadership & Advocacy Day will be held in Sacramento on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Next April, CALBO leadership, members and delegates will be invited to meet with elected state officials in the State Capitol to promote CALBO’s legislative agenda and the best interests of local California building departments.

This one-day event serves as CALBO’s opportunity to promote responsible public policy and legislation applicable to code enforcement, local government and public safety at the state level. By meeting with the elected officials that represent CALBO members throughout the state, we are working to build connections in Sacramento while working to educate those who make decisions that affect the work of local building departments each day. Whether you have attended in the past, or considering attending for the first time, participating in Leadership & Advocacy Day is a great way to involve yourself with CALBO.

In 2009, CALBO leadership lobbied pertinent issues of importance to local building departments, including the need for local control and trusting your local building official to know what is right for local communities with matters of building safety and code enforcement. The overarching theme of 2009’s Leadership & Advocacy Day was “trust your local building official to make the right decisions for your community”. This message was carried out to over 40 elected leaders in 2009.

5:30-8:00 Private Reception with Invited Guests and Legislators
