Join California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for a presentation on Accessory Dwelling Unites (ADUs) in California. HCD is the state’s leader on ADU research and local ADU ordinances, which have grown exponentially as more cities, counties, and homeowners become interested in ADUs as a solution to increase the supply of affordable housing.  Attendees learn about HCD’s ADU Handbook that contains ADU updates and laws effective as of January 1, 2022, but the majority of discussion centers on some of the most important ADU Q&As, including zoning, conversions, parking, impact fees, fire sprinkler, solar, manufactured homes, setbacks, minimum sizes, number of units allowed, ordinances and much more, to provide additional guidance. This course benefits building departments staff members, architects or contractors who wants a quick non-structural overview of ADUs from a California state agency.
