The application packets and program information are now available for the 2026 Permit Technician Career Advancement Academy in Northern California and Southern California.

This Academy is designed to strengthen the technical and interpersonal skills of counter technicians, enhancing both building department operations and professional growth in the building safety industry.

• Step 1. Download the Northern California Packet OR Southern California Packet
  *Consider reviewing the Academy Common Questions & Answers Page.

• Step 2. Read the entire packet, including the required curriculum and dates

• Step 3. Sign the Fillable PDF Participation Form (including your supervisor) on page 8

• Step 4. Complete the Fillable PDF Application Form on page 9

• Step 5. Email the two PDF completed forms to lherman@calbo.org by Friday, June 26, 2026

• Step 6. Applicant will be notified via email that their application is complete and under reviewed (only complete applications will be considered for review)

IMPORTANT: 25 students will be accepted into the
Northern California Academy and 25 students will be accepted into the Southern California Academy
