Major Bills and Updates
- AB 306 – Creates a statewide appeals process for Alternative Methods and Materials (AMMs) raising concerns over local control and proposed process viability.
- AB 1738 – Mandates remote inspections for various residential projects.
- AB 1070 – Calls for a report and assessment of the current definition of “multifamily housing” and the applicability of the California building and residential codes.
- SB 868 – “Plug and Play Solar Act,” proposes exemptions for portable solar devices.
- AB 1693 – Proposed streamlining of approvals for retail tenant improvements, including CEQA exemptions.
- AB 1820 – Extends solar permit fee caps to EV charging stations through 2036.
- SB 222 – Remote/asynchronous inspections for residential heat pumps that will lead to automated permitting.
