Updated Description and Material: This webinar provides building department personal with a foundational understanding of contractor licensing requirements administered by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Attendees review the CSLB licensing process, contractor license classifications, valid license statuses, scope of work limitations and how it relates to permit issuance, owner-builder permitting criteria and responsibilities, and much more. CSLB tools and resources to support accurate permit counter decisions and consistent customer guidance are reviewed as well. Special emphasis is placed on applying this information in a building safety counter setting, helping permit technicians at all levels understand how contractor licensing supports accurate permit issuance, effective applicant guidance, and protection of the jurisdiction by ensuring work is performed within proper license scope and state requirements. Attendance is encouraged for California building safety counter staff of all experience levels, as well as building department personnel seeking a clearer understanding of CSLB requirements.
