2019 Energy Code Photovoltaic (PV) Requirements for New Low-Rise Residential Buildings

Online Webinar

Thursday, July 9, 2020
9:00 - 11:00am
ICC PP Course No. 24858 (0.2 CEUs)

This course is designed for Building Inspectors and Plans Examiners. In this class, we will review the Photovoltaic (PV) requirements of California’s 2019 Title 24, Part 6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code) for new low-rise residential buildings (single family and multifamily). We will discuss how compliance with these requirements is to be shown for permit submittal and field inspection, and how Energy Code Ace checklists can help Plans Examiners and Building Inspectors ensure requirements are met. Additional topics include recognizing “triggers” for including PV in a permitted project scope, the amount of PV kW dictated by the Energy Code, and exceptions to PV requirements. Verification procedures prescribed by the 2019 Energy Code Joint Reference Appendix 11 (JA11) which must be completed by the installing contractor and confirmed by the building inspector will also be reviewed.
