Dynamic NRCC Forms: Nonresidential Prescriptive Certificate of Compliance Forms for the 2019 Energy Code
Online Webinar
Today - Thursday, July 23, 2020
9:00 - 11:00am
ICC PP Course No. 24857 (0.2 CEUs)
This course is designed for Building Inspectors and Plans Examiners. It presents the “new” Certificate of Compliance (NRCC) forms for nonresidential buildings introduced for California’s 2016 Title 24, Part 6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code) and now required under the 2019 Energy Code for documenting compliance via the Prescriptive method. Using integrated code logic and the ability to expand based on project scope of work, new “dynamic” features of the forms support understanding of Energy Code requirements and ease of completion. Additionally, form simplification means that there is now only one NRCC per compliance category, cutting the total number from 50 to 10. We will discuss how these forms allow Plans Examiners to concentrate on confirming documented building features are supported in the design documents, rather than worrying about the compliance form representing the Energy Code requirements accurately. And we will demonstrate how Building Inspectors can clearly see which forms (NRCI, NRCA, NRCV) are required from installing contractors, acceptance test technicians and HERS raters to document installed building features are meeting Energy Code requirements.

2019 Energy Code Photovoltaic (PV) Requirements for New Low-Rise Residential Buildings
Online Webinar
Tuesday, August 25, 2020
9:00 - 11:00am
ICC PP Course No. 24858 (0.2 CEUs)
This course is designed for Building Inspectors and Plans Examiners. In this class, we will review the Photovoltaic (PV) requirements of California’s 2019 Title 24, Part 6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code) for new low-rise residential buildings (single family and multifamily). We will discuss how compliance with these requirements is to be shown for permit submittal and field inspection, and how Energy Code Ace checklists can help Plans Examiners and Building Inspectors ensure requirements are met. Additional topics include recognizing “triggers” for including PV in a permitted project scope, the amount of PV kW dictated by the Energy Code, and exceptions to PV requirements. Verification procedures prescribed by the 2019 Energy Code Joint Reference Appendix 11 (JA11) which must be completed by the installing contractor and confirmed by the building inspector will also be reviewed.
