When CALBO was founded in 1962, the official name of the organization was chartered as the California Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials. To this day, all official paperwork, namely the Articles of Incorporation, refer to CALBO with this name. Despite the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) merging into the International Code Council in 2003, CALBO’s official legal name is still the California Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials.   

In an effort to “clean-up” our organizational paperwork, Membership Resolution #5 will be presented for membership approval at the 61st Annual Business Meeting in San Diego on March 7, 2023. The resolution would simply amend CALBO’s Articles of Incorporation to legally change our name from the California Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials to California Building Officials.
