Ten percent of homes in California have a wildfire designation of moderate to extreme risk. This webinar is intended to assist in identifying your community’s fire risk based on the building science of fire propagation the built environment. The 2019 California Building Code: Chapter 7A requirements for exterior protection of structures and the 2019 California Fire Code: Chapter 49 defensible space requirements intended to mitigate fire damage are discussed. This webinar also covers building department response strategies for plan reviewers, inspectors and counter staff that have been utilized in recent fires to assist in the assessment and rebuilding process.
